Production Assistant, Part-time

Purpose: To assist in interior/exterior shop & event upkeep and support in all aspects of production whether in shop or outside of shop. Upholds standards of Brave Floral service and values on a day-to-day basis.

Essential Functions:

  • Shop upkeep (30%)
    • Cleaning and organizing shop space to ensure tidy appearance at all times, including floors, windows, surfaces
    • Processing new floral, plant & hard goods inventory upon arrival
    • Tending to plants currently in the shop and outdoors; watering indoor plants according to a schedule and keeping their appearance tidy
    • Sanitizing of floral buckets and misc. tools used in the shop on a daily basis
    • Breaking down of boxes, removal of rubbish
    • Performing routine cleaning of air filters throughout shop
    • Opening and closing tasks
  • Retail order support (20%)
    • Prepping packaging for orders and finalizing each piece for delivery - whether delivery or shipment
    • Writing messages/cards, and organizing order materials for each day
    • Tracking inventory of all items used in packaging - reordering as needed
  • Delivery support (30%)
    • Conducting shop deliveries within ten (10) miles of Maplewood
    • Picking up orders from vendors on an as needed basis
  • Event/external project support (20%)
    • Cleaning and organizing production space to ensure tidy appearance at all times, including work space and vehicles
    • Assisting production team with assigned tasks on-site
    • Loading in and out project supplies

Requirements:

  • Must have 2+ years of prior job experience in any hands-on, creative or trade field, and/or 1+ years of experience in a production, events, or retail; Flower retail/shop experience preferred, but not required
  • High school diploma or higher
  • Proficient in English reading & writing
  • Must have a reliable vehicle & driver’s license
  • Flexible schedule including weekends
  • Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours per day
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
  • Must be able to work well under pressure managing multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to perform daily tasks

Production & Design Associate, Part-time

Purpose: To cross-functionally support Brave Floral within the shop, for exterior client installations, special events, or any project/job that requires design and production support. Upholds standards of Brave Floral service and values on a day-to-day basis.

Essential Functions:

  • Retail/customer service (30%)
    • Responsible for selling hard goods such as vases, ceramics, soaps and candles; learning about each vendor and artist in order to properly speak to it to customers
    • Engaging customers upon entering and while in the store
    • Assisting call-in or walk-in customers with orders based on budgetary and color needs
    • Unpacking or processing new inventory upon arrival
    • Ensuring shop space is in tip-top shape at all times
    • Opening and closing tasks if within the shop
  • Floral design responsibilities (40%)
    • Expert on florals in the retail space - knowing about the longevity of each flower type/stem available in the shop at any given time, seasonality, farm availability, stylistic approach, packaging/delivery processes and protocol
    • Fulfilling walk-in or online orders whether fresh or dried bouquet, or fresh or dried arrangement
    • Miscellaneous design tasks on as-needed basis, such as assisting with dried wreaths and display updates
  • Exterior design tasks (30%)
    • Fulfill/install orders for planter box, exterior decor, or orders requiring service at the customer’s home or place of business on an as needed basis - i.e. residential or commercial accounts
    • Shop and source product for fulfillment of said orders from Brave Floral approved vendors based on budget, style and need
    • Correspond with new customers with intake of order, or follow up with existing customers to refresh or upcoming service offerings
    • Assist on special event projects requiring on-site presence for design & production

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of prior job experience in any retail, production or creative field, and/or 3+ years of flower freelance or floral design work
  • High school diploma or higher
  • Proficient in English reading & writing
  • Proficient with iPad and iMac usage
  • Flexible schedule including weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
  • Ability to work under pressure while managing multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to perform daily tasks

Flower Transporter/Driver Extraordinaire/Delivery Person, Part-time

Purpose: To manage all pick-ups and deliveries incoming and outgoing from the shop. Upholds standards of Brave Floral service and values on a day-to-day basis.

Essential Functions:

  • Delivery support (40%)
    • Conducting shop deliveries within ten (10) miles of Maplewood
    • Communicating with recipients prior to delivery
    • Troubleshooting delivery issues as they arise
  • Vendor pickups (30%)
    • Conducting pick-ups in a timely manner from a variety of vendors throughout NJ, NYC and PA
  • Event/external project support (30%)
    • Managing loading in and loading out of project supplies at event/project space
    • Cleaning and organizing production space to ensure tidy appearance at all times, including work space and vehicles
    • Assisting production team with assigned tasks on-site on an as needed basis

Requirements:

  • Must have 2+ years of prior job experience in any logistics, customer service or production capacity; flower retail/shop experience preferred, but not required
  • High school diploma or higher
  • Proficient in English reading & writing
  • Must have a reliable vehicle & driver’s license with comfort driving on highways and in city traffic
  • Flexible schedule including weekends
  • Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours per day
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
  • Must be able to work well under pressure managing multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to perform daily tasks
