The maidenhair fern (Adiantum pedatum), is a species of fern native to moist forests in eastern North America. It grows in a variety of habitats, but generally favors soils that are both humus-rich, moist, and well-drained. It grows both in soils and on rock faces and ledges when adequate moisture is present.

Details
  • Maidenhair ferns need warmth, moisture, and humidity to thrive. 
  • Place them in a bright spot with indirect light, but avoid harsh sunlight. They can tolerate a brighter location, like on a windowsill or under a skylight, if it's filtered.
  • Will not survive drying out even if only for a short amount of time. Keep evenly moist (but not soggy) year-round and water 2-3x per week. 
  • Non-toxic if ingested.
