Ficus Ginseng Bonsai Tree (Ficus microcarpa) are a type of caudex plant, which stores energy in it's large and protruding root system. Native to southeast Asia, the ginseng ficus is also called banyan fig, Taiwan ficus, and laurel fig. This type of bonsai requires minimal care compared to a traditional bonsai plant. Pruning leaves will grow a thicker trunk, so trim leaves to your personal aesthetic.
